Responsive Web Design in Glasgow
I wonder what sort of device you’re reading this on? A laptop? Maybe you’re at your desk reading the words on a cinema-sized display. Or – perhaps even more likely – you’ve got a smartphone in your hand and you’re thumbing through on your way to another meeting.
Previously we designed for desktop users first, and a mobile version was either a far too minimal functional experience or we were trying to force too much of our desktop site into it unnecessarily.
Responsive web design, simply put, enables your website to fluidly adapt to different screen sizes. Responsive design makes websites adaptive across a wide range of devices that are used to browse the internet, such as of desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. You can easily check if a website is responsive by resizing your browser window. All the content (text, photos) scale up or down according to the size of your window.
So all that means web design can be viewed with any device (whether it’s a desktop, tablet or mobile phone) and will always make full use of the size of your screen. No matter how big or small the size of your screen is, the content is always optimized for the relevant screen resolution. This effectively eliminates unnecessary resizing, panning, and scrolling when visiting your favourite site with different devices.
